Constellations and our future Please be a little patient in reading, I go back before I go forward.

Recently I have had such a sense of unrest, a feeling that we have such grim situation for our planet, and not too much is coming up in terms of creative and inspiring and feasible solutions.. How different did we feel in the late 60'ies! Overpopulation, pollution, devastation of the planet, attrition, were not yet the urgent themes, only the pioneers of the time were busy warning of times to come. Not that we did know any solutions then, but many of us joined up to show another quality which began as protest against the cold war and then the Vietnam war. We sang: “All we are saying, is give peace a chance”. We discarded the notion of loyalty to what our leaders decide, in the name of the fatherland, and instead wanted to express loyalty to all suffering people across the boarders, and brotherhood amongst humanity. With stood by the poor and the oppressed, at least in our heart.

Now I wonder if the beautiful spiritual tool and path that Bert gave us, could help also us to become more awake, more creative, and this not just individually, but truly pooling our hearts, putting contributions into the centre that might then connect in some creative way.

For this I just want to start with recapitulating the development of constellations.

Bert started constellations with first trying to find out what the injury was that created disorder in people and in families and in larger systems on many levels.

Then experiments began with the question: What can help here? First of all, just moving people into different positions to each other might help. And yes, like Confucius would have predicted, it did help.

But this soon showed the next step. The representatives felt like the people they represented. So inquiring about their feelings, representatives expressing their feelings, heard by the other representatives, began to initiate more change. Now the representatives were moved to another position not so much “according to a good order” but according to the next step on the journey to turning towards each other again, to revealing and healing. In these early phases the clients placed the representatives in an unplanned way, according to an inner image they had at that moment. This image expressed the frozen state after some trauma in the near and even more distant past. The healing ended up with the representatives of this family coming together in a heartfelt or at least acknowledging way.

So this was still a fairly static approach with a good deal of active intervention through the facilitator. The work could at this state be described through a set of recipes, on the basis of some understanding of the dynamics involved..

Then a big change happened. Where permitted, people began to move on their own accord, guided by some unknown energy, and if left to it, in a very recollected group, they would move towards peace, without any words even.

From here on, Bert intervened in the sense of being guided to intervene, for instance by adding more representatives, or moving one representative into another direction.

So the ‘movements of the soul’ had come to life. Later Bert reserved the term ‘soul’ for the soul of the family field. The energy responsible for the healing he now named spirit, so he renamed the healing movements ‘movements of the spirit’. They lead to reconciliation.

In time the representations became far more complex, it became clear that a single representative would express different layers of an issue that is played put out the present, including different people and events from different times.

This happened a lot when doing symptom constellations, for instance. The one that touched me most was a constellation for Hungary, requested by the Hungarian organizers who were wondering why so many of their countrymen seemed to have lost many of their qualities that Hungarians were proud of, like being courteous and caring.

Out of this the ‘multidimensional constellations’ evolved. 20 people were put in the centre, and at the most a handful of central figures were told whom they were representing. To me, the most touching of these ones that I experienced directly was a political one, about Stalin.

So it became evident that in a recollected group it is enough to utter a simple request, sit back with your heart wide open like in an amphitheater in ancient Greece, and watch a play of the gods, to learn about life.

And there might not even a request, but simply being still and see what it being revealed.

Each time some new development happened, even Bert thought, this is it. But by now this concept had been abandoned, and we can put our trust into the wide open. There is always future. We will never run out of future. And the future always comes, in one form or another.

So this is were we are now. All of Bert’s spiritual books talk about the future that is coming and inviting us to receive with an open heart. A future that offers love and solutions unheard of and unseen until now.

So now constellations can even be consulted about the future , the future that we can become a part of.

Right from the beginning Bert had one question in this amazing constellation space: What helps here? And even this question itself grew, no longer stopped with a happy end in the here and now, but already weaving the fabric of the future, like in sowing, you go back one step, and then the needle comes out two steps further. Bert speaks more and more about attuning ourselves with the future, so that we can work with it directly. It seems to some of us as if a door is opened for many to cooperate more directly, as Bert insists, always just knowing the next step and taking it, which brings on the next step after this. This makes sense to me as in this way we trust guidance more.

So, is there a way we can share this creative space more, tuning ourselves towards the good future that wants to come?

Perhaps even finding it together, weaving together?

Bert speaks about giving future as a special gift of love. Spirit gives it to us, and we can give it to others.

I feel this New Medicine, called GNM, www.learninggnm.com - in spite of its most unfortunate name, and its midwife doctor, Doctor Hamer, is one of those tremendous gifts, it gives our health a future. I feel this New Medicine brings great understanding from China and perhaps other Asian traditions together with Western scientific medicine.

The New Ways seem to go with words such as intuition, synthesis, synergy, synchronicity, so I want to thank the people who brought the GNM into CT. Perhaps this is not immediately relevant to everyone, I feel this is exactly the kind of energy we need to harness. Instead of competition we can have wonderful shared challenges in cooperation.

Take medicine, if we take all of humanity’s understanding of illness, trauma of body and soul together, with all its approaches to healing, to becoming and remaining healthy on all levels, what a beautiful challenge to integrate these systems. Surely we would be able to heal a lot and get old with far better health.

My recent distress broke out over the fact that we get so old, but our medical approach only knows how to keep us a little alive and put us together only superficially, it does not know how to keep us really alive and well.

So old people have to have the feeling they are a burden, and the polite thing would be to die as soon as possible. With less children or none at all, they drain the tax pot. So away with them! And them is us.

In a talk with Monika, her comment hit me like a revelation, that not the fact that we can now reach a considerable age is the problem, but the fact, that too many of us can’t get there in good health, still creative and productive and enjoying life.

But it could easily be that this is what evolution wants, people who are old enough to understand history, to learn from mistakes, to have a view of the future, to care for the future, who know what can’t be done. Too many of our young people have little idea of what denuding the earth of its green coat does.

Even our politicians want to question the impact.

We are told we need more and more “development”, more and more immigrants, more and more children, more and more population, just to look after all the old wobbly people who eat up all the tax money. And what are the old wobbly people thinking about? More and more, how to end their lives in time.

So our present medical understanding gives us a future, a future of poor health and of thinking how to do away with ourselves. Why do our governments not initiate much greater cooperation of medical systems to come up with something that can heal much more and keep people healthy much longer? We know so much already, if only all the different approaches could be truly integrated.

So, with our constellations practice, I feel it would be great if our commitment extends to looking at all the other good practices that support deep recovery, good health, and maintenance of good health. Just go to China, and see the old people run around barefoot in circles of pebbled tracks. Ouch, it hurts. I could only run with them for a little while, then on their next round they picked me up again and dragged me along! How utterly energizing it felt!
